Hello, I’m Walt Fish, founder and owner of Bay Area Home Inspection. If it's a professional Licensed Home Inspector (Wisconsin License # 739-106) you are seeking, you've clicked your way to the right web site.

License

Note "Michigan Does not License Inspectors!"

Though my office is located in Laurium, Michigan, I service much of Upper Michigan in Marquette, Gogebec, Iron, Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties.

I personally perform every home inspection myself and I will always give you the utmost personal attention you deserve. Now that is one benefit that is not always possible with the large multiple inspector firms. As a licensed professional, I have a fiduciary responsibility to all my home inspection clients and I have high regard for every last one of them. I respect the fact that they rely on me and my knowledge to personally assist them with one of the largest investment decisions of their life. My inspection standards are the highest in the home inspection industry and meet or exceed every standard set by the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing (Michigan has no licensing standards or requirements).

Formed in 1999, Bay Area Home Inspection was originally located near Green Bay, Wisconsin. Seven years, and hundreds of inspections later, I moved the business to Upper Michigan, where, for the past 3 years, I have developed a large and growing number of devoted clients.

When choosing an inspector, I would recommend making the choice on your own, without the input of your Realtor. There is enough information out there now to make an informed decision without worrying that a Realtor might steer you to a relative, friend or someone who routinely finds little wrong during the inspection. Many Upper Michigan inspectors tout a membership in some association as proof of their skill, but I would suggest to you that State Licensed Inspectors exceed those standards and are the only Home Inspectors that are regulated. I have been Licensed in Wisconsin since 1999.

Michigan has no standards.

Wait a minute! Are you telling me that a local tow truck driver could be moonlighting as a Home Inspector, even though he has no training or experience?

Yep! Some of them have their cards in Realty offices as we speak. With over 11 years in this business and years in construction trades, I have the trained eye and vast experience to accurately assess the condition of any home, and I possess the communication skills to clearly describe the inspection results to you.

With my level of integrity and my overall customer satisfaction, I will be providing you with the best choice for your home inspection needs. You will be hiring a Master Home Inspector who is fully experienced in inspecting everything from high end multi-million dollar homes to older homes that were built in the late 1800's.

Every home buyer would like to be fully informed as to what their prospective purchase consists of, so... during your home inspection, I will be continuously discussing my findings while answering any questions that you may have. I will also go over maintenance issues so that you thoroughly understand how to keep the components in your home running properly.

Someone once said a picture is worth a thousand words. I take lots of pictures and include them in your report. The report is emailed to you the same day in HTML so it can be viewed from any computer with internet access. You will get a user name and password, and only you will be able to view the report. Of course, I also give you the ability to forward it by email to your Realtor, Banker, or any person you choose.

You can also pay with a credit card from this site. (See the menue on the left.)

I will inspect your new home the same way I would inspect a home that I would be purchasing myself. Which brings up another point, a Home Inspector should have some understanding of the Real Estate process. I am on my 5th home and completed all of the pre-licensing courses for Realtors in Wisconsin over 10 years ago. I understand the process. I know specifically how the Home Inspection fits into this process and what it means to the buyer and to the seller.

During your home inspection, I would like you to walk right beside me. This gives me the opportunity to slowly and methodically walk you through your prospective home and fully educate you on all of its features in order for you to fully understand your property and what is required to maintain it. I will be assessing those areas where upgrades or replacements may be necessary and I'll be screening for those costly defects and safety issues that could lead to serious problems in your future living conditions. If requested, I will conduct a Radon, or Mold test and send samples to an independent lab for analysis. I'll be squeezing through every little nook and cranny of the home to locate and identify any problem areas that may need attention now. I will be your knowledgeable consultant who will be on-site for your exclusive benefit in providing you with essential decision-making data.

This is also the perfect opportunity for you to ask me questions while we view and consider the object of your investment together. Before you invest tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars purchasing an Upper Michigan Home; be sure you hire Bay Area Home Inspection to verify that your chosen home does not contain major defects now and to minimize the risk of any future complications which could potentially cost you thousands of dollars in unforeseen repairs after you move in. I am state licensed; a graduate of the American Home Inspectors Institute; a graduate of Michigan Technological University with a BSBA; a graduate of North East Wisconsin Technical College’s Home Inspector Course; a graduate in Asbestos Abatement from the Michigan Trade Laborer’s Union a Former Combat Engineer and 8 year Veteran with the US Army and US Army National Guard. I can and will reduce the risk of any major or expensive surprises that may happen after you take ownership of your new Upper Michigan home. Through my commitment, experience, and expertise, I will be establishing and personalizing a business relationship with you that will last for as long as you own your home. I am and always will be available as your private consultant.
