RURAL DEVELOPMENT INSPECTIONS

There are basically two inspection types for rural development.

1. GNRH or Guaranteed Rural Housing, where the bank handles the loan. The bank is the client and not the homebuyer.

2. Rural Development, when the USDA itself handles the Rural Development loan at the Rural Development office.

Number one takes a special one page form and is a shorter inspection. The focus is on safety issues, structural integrity & plumbing, electrical and heating adequacy. It is not as complete as a regular home inspection. I recommend having a Home Inspection to give you detailed information about the home. The GNRH Inspection will not suffice for you alone!

Number two usually requires a normal Pre-Purchase Home Inspection.
